You have been visiting Owain Glyndwr and his family at his home at Sycharth. Now you are writing to tell your friend about the visit, the people you met and what you saw there.

In one way all of the entries deserve a prize — they were lively, interesting and a pleasure to read. The competition asked for an account of a visit to Owain and his family at Sycharth and I suspect that they would have been surprised to learn that they lived in a version of Downton Abbey, with butlers and housemaids. It would have been good to read a little more about the family, but the feasts that the poets described were there in detail, sausages, kippers and all. Congratulations to the winners, of course; I hope that one day they will visit Sycharth for themselves. And I suspect that, winners or no, we have a few future best sellers among those who entered.
