Background
Owain Glyndŵr probably lived between the years 1359 and 1415. He took over the running of his estates in Cynllaith and Glyndyfrdwy after his marriage in 1383 and he then lived a relatively peaceful existence for a number of years. His War of Independence began in 1400 following a time of unrest in the country, and he then led the Uprising until 1412 when his son, Maredudd, took over. Owain disappeared from view and probably spent his final years in Herefordshire. 2025 Competition
Pick a time from before, during or after the Uprising, and write about a possible conversation you would have with Glyndŵr.
The closing date for entries is: 31st July 2025
Two prizes will be awarded for English Language entries, one for Group A and one for Group B. Both winning entries will receive a prize of £50 and be published on the Society`s website. £50 will also be donated to the winner’s school.
Your entry must be entered using the Competition Form on the Children Section of the Society’s Website.
Entry Procedure
To submit your entry, proceed as follows:
1. Create a Word document.
2. Write your conversation with Glyndŵr. This must be 500 words or less.
4. Save the Word document and attach your entry via ‘GROUP A’ or ‘GROUP B’ below.
